Mancos Watershed Group
What is the Mancos Watershed Group?
The Mancos Watershed in Southwest Colorado supports crucial values for both human and ecological communities. Through the Mancos Watershed Group, partners work together for the long-term resilience of the river, and the communities that rely on it.
Who are We?
The Mancos Watershed Group (MWG) is a diverse group of partners who work collaboratively at the watershed-scale to advance and achieve economic, cultural, and ecological resilience for the watershed. The MWG includes representation from: private landowners, federal land management agencies, local municipalities, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, and various interest groups.
What Does the Watershed Group Accomplish?
The MWG meets twice a year to talk about and plan projects, share information and ideas, coordinate across boundaries, and address concerns. The Mancos Watershed Group Leadership Team meets quarterly to collaborate and plan Mancos Watershed Group meetings. The Mancos Watershed Group is also responsible for coordinating the Mancos Stream Management Plan, which, according to the Colorado Water Conservation Board, is a “data-driven assessment of river health that helps communities prioritize how to protect or enhance environmental and reactional assets in their watersheds.” Click here to see more about the Mancos Stream Management Plan.
